The EU Independent Fiscal Institutions (IFI) Network is pleased to welcome the Polish Fiscal Council as its newest member. The application was formally approved during the EU IFI Network Meeting held in Vienna on 23 June 2026.
The Polish Fiscal Council began its operations on 1 January 2026, making Poland the last European Union Member State to establish an Independent Fiscal Institution. With the accession of the Polish Fiscal Council, the EU IFI Network now brings together independent fiscal institutions from all 27 EU Member States, and the United Kingdom's Office for Budget Responsibility.
"We are delighted to welcome the Polish Fiscal Council to the EU IFI Network and to see the Network now represented in every EU Member State," said Lilia Cavallari, Chair of the EU IFI Network. "We look forward to working closely with our new Polish colleagues, benefiting from their expertise and perspectives, and further strengthening cooperation across Europe on issues of fiscal governance and sustainability."
“We are very pleased to have become part of the EU IFI Network," said Slawomir Dudek, Chair of the Polish IFI, "the opportunity to exchange knowledge and engage in broad cooperation within this network is a tremendous benefit. Another advantage — particularly important for such a young council as ours — is the opportunity to learn from the experience of the Network’s members. We intend to be an active member of the Network, sharing our knowledge and experience, our perspective on fiscal policy, and our ideas. I also believe that it is important that, from now on, it can be said that all European Union Member States are represented within the EU IFI Network.”
The inclusion of the Polish Fiscal Council marks an important milestone for the Network, reinforcing its role as a forum for cooperation, the exchange of best practices, and the promotion of high standards for independent fiscal oversight across Europe.
