The Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions (IFIs) is pleased to announce the launch of a new regular publication on the state of budgetary affairs in EU member states.
The European Fiscal Monitor
will be published twice a year and involves contributions from individual EU IFIs (or fiscal councils) on the main events and challenges in the economies, public finances and fiscal frameworks of EU member states. The aim of the publication is to provide the IFIs with a platform to convey their key messages to an international audience interested in national budgetary matters.
In the first issue of the Monitor, we have 15 participating institutions. Each individual entry in the European Fiscal Monitor is the sole responsibility of the respective national IFI. The contributions from individual IFIs share the same compact graphical layout but the IFIs retain full discretion over the content. This allows them to focus on the most aching issues of the day, and present their independent views.
In the upcoming issues of the Monitor, we are planning to increase the number of participating IFIs as well as to provide a short cross-country overview.
