In a meeting with Commission and EU member state officials on 2 February 2017, the Chair of the Network of EU IFIs highlighted the persisting weaknesses in the day-to-day implementation of fiscal surveillance in the EU.
The Chair of the Network of EU IFIs is going to address the Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the EU on 31 January. The event is a part of the 2017 European Parliamentary Week. In a session on the Fiscal Compact as a part of national economic policy making, José Luis Escrivá will present the experience of EU independent fiscal institutions in conducting fiscal surveillance at the national level. He will also set out elements of the agenda of the Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions aimed at strengthening the EU fiscal framework. Read more
AIReF endorses as likely the forecasts for 2017 of all the Autonomous Regions whose forecasts are different from Spain’s forecasts.
AIReF issues this report with a double perspective: on the one hand, to assess the proposals for individual deficit and public debt targets for the Autonomous Regions (ARs) in 2016 and for the period 2017-2019 submitted by the Ministry of Finance and Civil Service (MINHAFP), and on the other hand, to monitor compliance with the fiscal rules.
