On 26 April 2016 José Luis Escrivá, the chair of the Network of EUIFIs, and Michal Horváth, advisor to the Network, met with EU officials, including the European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis, to communicate the Network's position on recent initiatives to strengthen the EU fiscal framework.

The Latvian Fiscal Council commissioned two public opinion surveys

The first studied the attitude of Latvia’s inhabitants towards paying taxes (carried out by Latvijas fakti). The aim of the second survey was to ascertain people’s opinion on issues pertaining to fiscal policy and budget discipline (carried out by SKDS).

What should a fiscal risk report cover?

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) is planning to start publishing a dedicated Fiscal risks report to help promote an informed public debate about the sustainability of the public finances. An interesting new OBR discussion paper seeks views on what should be included in a fiscal risks report.
